Strata Gardens

We take care of people, not just lawns.

We coordinate monthly community gardening sessions for strata complexes in the NSW Central Coast. With the guiding help of an expert, everyone gets an opportunity work together. Allowing neighbours to meet, build connections and build relationships, and all the flow on benefits these give.

If you have residents who love mowing lawns, great! Let them mow. If you have residents who like other things too, we can co-design them into your green space: bird habitat, bees, berries, frogs, lizards, dragon flies, ponds, urban forests, food forests, chickens, seasonal shade, flowers, anything! We'll help it fit harmoniously together, keeping it neat and thriving, reliably.

Neighbourly relationships improve our mental health, our resilience in times of crisis, and our skills at resolving disputes. There is more to life than just grass and hedges.

Co-design Sessions

We will run an initial design workshop where residents get to express their visions through 2x cooperative plan-making exercises. The first is a fun and friendly chance to create a new garden design for a fictional unit block. For any landscape designers and horticulturalists among us, its a chance to show skills and prove your worth. The rest of us get to prove our naivety and make common mistakes, but over the course of an hour, on paper, rather than over the course of a few years, in our shared backyard. 🤫

The second is a chance to implement our new humility and awareness by coming up with an imaginary design for your strata complex. The sentiments and elements that come from this will help inform a professionally produced garden design and implementation plan, that we can use to guide what we work on together in future communal gardening sessions. 🥳

Lawns and bins and cleaning, oh my!

Ever wondered why there are 50 people living in your unit complex yet no one to bring in the bins?

Us too.

At the end of the day you need to know that everything is just taken care of. We don't need jobs to be done most of the time we need them to be done all the time. We can help everyone get on the same page regarding what needs to be done, and provide systems to make sure it gets done.

Our Fair Work vision

Strata Gardens is an early incarnation of a future workers cooperative. The money we charge only goes to paying our team by the hours they work and we will never invite shareholder ownership. We believe that the push for shareholder profit is the cause of the degradation of many goods and services around the world and only makes sense if the health of our natural environment and our happiness is ignored. This ideology will be reflected in the service we provide and the structure of our organisation. We are raising capital via the offer of fixed-return investments and welcome any expressions of interest.
