Thoughtful Garden Design

Who uses your garden?

Who is your garden designed for? How often do they use it? Do they use it at night? Where does your space end and "the wild" begin? Is our planet's wild space increasing or decreasing?

Habitat Gardens

Our spaces can become a critical home to many types of animals and insects without any burden on us: birds, butterflies, dragonflies, frogs & lizards. We can choose plants that provide food and habitat for animals and then experience the joy seeing who turns up to share the space. Who turns up to eat those who turned up to use the space?

Grow what grows

The most popular fruit we buy at the supermarket are apples and bananas. But can you grow apples and bananas in the same climate? Which is better for your climate? It is possible to grow a significant amount of food at your home. It's both rewarding and a nice way to connect by sharing with neighbours. A lot of people get turned off gardening when they make simple mistakes, like trying to grow something in a climate where it just doesn't grow. You'll have more success if you lean on other's wisdom rather than making all the first-time mistakes.

Keep it simple

Do you know about passive heating and cooling? Have you implemented it?

Make use of the different angles of the sun in summer and winter to automatically heat and cool your house. Make use of deciduous trees (that can also produce fruit!)

Make a plan, get growing

I can help you design or build out your new garden and turn your intentions in to reality. If the state of your, once lovely, garden is a reflection of life's current chaos, I can come and help you steer it back on course with some weeding, pruning and mulching.
